RESIDENCE-CARD CHECK

An eSIM-ready phone does not solve an ID-route issue

Rakuten Mobile published 2026 notices for foreign nationals. Some cards with changed or unregistered IC-chip addresses cannot use Simple Mobile ID Verification. Specified and second-generation residence-card types introduced or issued from June 14, 2026 must be handled at a Rakuten Mobile shop under the current notice.

You plan to use a specified residence card or specified special permanent resident certificate.
You plan to use a second-generation card issued on or after June 14, 2026.
